How to join SSP

Candidates for membership may apply and submit work under one of the following categories:

Painting   Six paintings framed as for an exhibition.

Sculpture   Three finished sculptures and three photographs of sculptures.

Engraving and  Printmaking      Six engravings or prints mounted as for an exhibition

For all categories – please bring evidence of drawing, ie sketch book,

unmounted drawings, etc.

The Society, which was started in 1924, has always believed that drawing with

competence and understanding should be evident in at least two pieces of the

six pieces of finished work which are brought to the selection meeting.

Membership Form

Thank you for expressing an interest in joining the Society of Sussex Painters. We are always happy to welcome new members. The membership fee is £20 per year and we hold three meetings and one or two exhibitions each year in different parts of Sussex.

Prospective new members are invited to bring examples of their work, including sketch books as well as completed works, to the last day of an exhibition, so that all members can see your work and vote on your membership. Successful candidates will be notified the same day.
